Sports Head’s Charity Run

Sports Heads Charity Run

Dr Mark Butler’s 50th birthday celebrations were noticeably different this year. Instead of enjoying a party or a night out with friends, Mark tackled the 26.2 miles of the Virgin Money London Marathon. Mark, director of sport at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Blackburn, ran for Children with Cancer UK which provides vital support for children and families affected by childhood
cancer, including funding research and helping to raise awareness of the disease.

“It’s not your usual 50th birthday celebration, that’s true,” says Mark. “Some people say I’m mad …. they might be right!”

Mark said he’d like to thank parents, colleagues, students and anyone connected to QEGS who supported him so far with his fundraising efforts.
